OUT OF CONTROL DRUG PROBLEM
Editor:
I would like to add to the letter written by Riley Lapin last week
about drugs.
I also think that it is terrible that drugs have gotten so out of
control. It terrifies me to think of our children getting lured into
this lifestyle.
Excuses should not be made for these people. Everyone has a choice. I
know of people who have had terrible lives, involving sexual and
physical abuse from an early age. They have not chosen this path, they
have chosen to get the right help and live their life.
I understand people have problems but drugs won't help, they may make
them forget for a while but it doesn't take it away. All drugs do is
lead them into a life of crime and misery. It not only ruins their
life but also those around them. Why should other people have to
suffer through their choices?
My daughter was enticed into taking ecstasy at the age of 13 and had
to be rushed to hospital where she almost died. Did the law punish the
people involved? No. The law is protecting the guilty and making it
easier for them to continue breaking the law. This incident was in
England, but judging by events that are happening here the law is just
as soft.
What about the decent law-abiding citizens who are dying or have died
through terminal illnesses. They want to live and make the most of
their life but have no choice. Then you have people throwing their
lives away on drugs. How fair is that? It isn't.
Please deal with this now before more innocent children suffer from
this. Drug dealers are poor excuses for human beings. They are luring
people into this lifestyle to line their pockets and feed their habits.
This is a beautiful country and deserves to be treated with respect
and so do the decent citizens who live here. Please protect our
innocent children from these monsters.
