MOBILE WOMAN HIT WITH DRUG CHARGE ALSO ACCUSED OF ENDANGERING CHILD
A 26-year-old Mobile woman was jailed Wednesday on drug charges and
one count of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the
Mobile County Sheriff's Office.
[redacted] was arrested Wednesday at her home on Navco Road
on warrants charging her with possession of a drug precursor,
possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a
child, according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lori Myles.
[redacted] remained at Mobile County Metro Jail on Wednesday
evening.
Myles said [redacted] bought an unspecified amount of pseudoephedrine Jan.
16 at area drug stores, and deputies stopped her and found the drug
in her possession as well as other equipment used assemble a
methamphetamine lab.
[redacted]'s daughter was in the car, Myles said. The girl, who is under
age 2, was released to the custody of her father, she said.
Pseudoephedrine is an over-the-counter decongestant that is used to
make meth. When bought in quantity, it is considered a precursor
under new laws meant to combat meth operations.
Myles said the case had been set aside by the Mobile County District
Attorney's Office shortly after the arrest because of a paperwork
problem, but the error was corrected and deputies secured a warrant
after re-introducing the case, Myles said.
