DEBATE RESOLUTION

It is a sad day indeed for American democracy when public officials
can be browbeaten and threatened to prevent a public discussion of
public policy. If our current drug policy is working, then why are
they afraid? If it is not working, then it should be fixed.

Shame on Mayor Cook and our state representatives for lacking the
backbone to engage in a public debate of our drug policy, and shame on
Rep. Reyes for using the power of his office to intimidate other
public officials.

We deserve better.
