DRUG DEBATE
Consider taking the profit out of drugs. The response to "don't
involve us" equals "are the drugs going into Mexico?"
Our citizens are the users.
Intelligent citizens debate problems, such as the putting of controls,
as was done with alcohol and tobacco -- along with rehab and education.
The users are going to get their drugs any which way they can. Burst
the traffickers' bubble.

Editor's note: The Times received many letters concerning the City
Council resolution including language about discussing legalization of
drugs. Some of these were written before the resolution veto was upheld.
