CONCENTRATE EFFORTS ON DEALERS OF DANGEROUS DRUGS

The problem with the Operation Weedkiller two-year investigation (The
Maui News, Nov. 14, 15, 19, 21) is that those resources should be
applied to our most dangerous drugs.

If I had a broken thumb and a heart attack at the same exact time, I
would hope doctors would put their energies into saving me from the
heart attack and ignore the thumb until we are out of the woods in the
heart attack area.

The same goes with drugs. All the bad things people wish to say about
marijuana may be true, however my family and I are not as afraid for
our safety from people who are high on marijuana as we are of those on
crack, heroin and methamphetamines. So until we are out of the woods
in that area, do not waste your time on sick potheads.

Here's a suggestion: Ask Drug Court participants to help you root out
dealers of those more dangerous drugs, and if you happen to catch a
couple potheads in the process, oh well. This could be a form of
community service or restitution for all the money taxpayers put into
the Drug Court program.
