YOU DON'T SNORT COCA-COLA
Re: Stop demonizing cocaine, Dec. 10.
I read with interest Chris Buors' continued stubborn stance in
opposition to the status quo which is intensive regulation of various
drugs, citing his "right to self-medicate." He attempts to reform the
criminal database by altering the very definition of crime and its
relation to vice.
This is legalese of the "get-out-of-jail-free" variety. He correctly
identifies this as a fundamental moral (he says Christian) issue. I
admit I could not find fault with his impeccable, flawless logic. But
reading between lines, it seems he secretly would like to overthrow
the government by an armed force of marijuanistas and install himself
as dictator of a libertarian-anarchist utopia. This is the perverse
basis of all stoner-based "self-defence" criminal psychology. Rebel
groups in the paradises he mentions, such as Bolivia and Peru, are
financed by the charity of the drug cartels to enforce a reign of terror.
You don't snort Coca-Cola until it gives you a bleeding nose.
Likewise, Chris is free to make a shopping trip to his local health
food store for medicine and ask the clerk for advice, provided he is
not seeking narcotics. If he wants dope, he has to go to another part
of the mall.
