THANK YOU HANOVER POLICE
Dear Editor:
On behalf of Hanover's Tough Love Support Group, we would like to take
this opportunity to publicly extend our "thanks" to the Hanover Police
Services and all other forces involved in executing the successful
drug bust that took place on 13th Avenue in Hanover on Oct. 22
("Police bust notorious drug house in Hanover," Oct. 31, 2008).
The satisfaction to see the law finally be able to charge such
individuals is overwhelming, to say the least. Some parents have
waited more than three years to see this happen. We have sadly watched
our children fall prey over and over again to these vultures. It's a
cruel kindness that has been shown to our kids. They feed and
encourage their addiction and when the addiction takes over, the kids
run drugs, sell and steal for them.
No doubt the law will only be able to detain them for a short period
of time and they will slowly creep back into our neighbourhood, but
hopefully it has put a damper on drug activity and certainly drawn
some attention to the house on 13th Avenue. It's hard to believe this
is going on on a quiet little street in Hanover, but this is widely
known to many drug rehabilitation centres in the province. It's also a
well known fact that Hanover/ Walkerton is the leading area for
crystal meth in the province, as they have recently surpassed
Stratford in meth-related criminal activity.
Hopefully justice is served and these particular criminals will have
consequences and perhaps find a way out of their own addiction and in
turn will stop infecting our community.
For those interested, our group offers support and guidance for
families affected by substance abuse. We meet each Monday at 7 pm. The
group has been together for more than three years. For information
contact 519-364-3574.
