I'VE JOTTED DOWN A FEW IDEAS ABOUT THINGS FOR YOU TO FIX, MR. PRESIDENT

(Following is an excerpted and edited version of Pamela Anderson's
letter to Barack Obama)

Dear Mr. Obama: My thoughts/hopeful ideas:

Free Leonard Peltier.

This injustice is breeding hate and discrimination. It would be very
meaningful to Native Americans and to all of us who have watched and
been saddened by a broken system.

There are too many people in jail who don't need to be there. I'm not
saying there aren't people who need to be jailed while determining
their fate, but jail should be a holding cell for justice, not a
lifelong waste of taxpayers' money or a spa for criminals.

Government must castrate every molester or potential molester -- err
on the safe side -- if any child pornography is found in anyone's
possession -- or anyone creating such atrocities.

If any young child is brave enough to come forward to bring attention
to a potential molester, then listen. They need to be taken
seriously. The abuse is way worse than any trial could be. Our
children need more protection. Abuse must be prevented, not just punished.

We should legalize marijuana and monitor and tax the product. This
would make our borders less corrupt and then this will be a more
secure option and save children in the long run.

We should be able to farm hemp in America. It will create jobs and be
good for the environment.

Bring our troops home safely. Stop the killing and work with veterans
to secure a peaceful world. Use their first-hand wisdom. We obviously
don't have a war economy anymore.

Stop all these garbage, wasteful and ineffective animal tests.
Science is supposed to be progressive. Animal tests are an
embarrassment and nobody wishes this senseless cruelty to go on.

Please get rid of this private insurance and private health-care
system that is corrupt and doesn't work. Government should take over
both those areas, supplying secure government jobs to people
dedicated to their job. Supplying proper health insurance to everyone
is a proven system. Look at Canada.

Promote vegetarianism, which would help end world hunger. Crack down
on the factory farming that is killing the environment and
slaughtering so many animals-wastefully and carelessly. It's
unhealthy and impractical.

Please shut down Guantanamo Bay. Make amends, stop torture. It's time
for peaceful solutions and world-wide cooperation. We should share
resources and protecting each other through education and missionary work.

Bring the world together, help each other. We are each other's keeper
no matter what side of a border we're born on.

If people are hard working why can't they work and pay taxes in
America? If they have no criminal record, why do we have illegal immigration?

It should be made easier for people to work here. All they want to do
is work. Some Americans sure have a sense of entitlement that can be
unhealthy, unwise and selfish.
