SENTENCING WOEFULLY INADEQUATE IN BUST

When I read the front-page article in The Maui News Oct. 17 about "the
biggest drug bust in Maui County history," I was appalled that Ohi
Aniban received only a slap on the wrist as she was sentenced to 45
weekends in jail and 200 hours of community service.

Sure, she got a second chance, but what about other people in our
community who are not so lucky as Mrs. Aniban? And who's to say that
she really hasn't learned a lesson from this and will return to
selling drugs because she could make a lot more money than she does
now as manager of a fast-food franchise?

As for me, I have no more faith in our so-called justice system or
Judge Joseph Cardoza.
