HOMELESS MAN CALLS 911 FOR JAIL, PLEASE
FORT WALTON BEACH - A homeless man called 911 from a pay phone
because he wanted to go to jail, he told police, plunking down a
small bag of marijuana on the back of a cruiser.
The 48-year-old man is charged with possession of less than 20 grams
of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He called Thursday from a phone on Miracle Strip Parkway - but hung
up, according to his arrest report. An officer went to the area anyway.
The man said he called because he wanted to go to jail. "I informed
(him) that I did not have a reason to take him to jail," the officer
said. Then the man said he had marijuana, pulled it out of his sock
and dropped it on the back of the patrol car.
He was taken to the police department, where officers also found
rolling paper on him.
