MARIJUANA LAWS OUTDATED

Re: Medical pot crusader found guilty, Oct. 30.

What a sad, sad day for Canada when this poor man, dedicating the
dying years of his life to helping ease the pain of the suffering, is
punished for his deed. Canada's marijuana laws are shamefully out of
date and there is no justification for our tax dollars to be used in
pursuing, prosecuting and criminalizing anyone who smokes or
distributes pot for any reason, not even considering those who smoke
it to ease their terrible pain and suffering.

What a despicable tragedy that the sick and dying are harassed,
badgered, persecuted and made to jump through bureaucratic hoops,
indeed often forced to break to the law. How little compassion do we
have both as a people and as a society when the prudish fears of the
uptight and increasingly marginalized allow this travesty to occur?
