PROP. 5 A 'GET OUT OF JAIL FREE' CARD FOR CRIMINALS

There will be two measures on the Tuesday ballot on Election Day that
will absolutely impact the way law enforcement will conduct business
in the future.

Proposition 5 is cleverly disguised as drug-offender rehabilitation
effort and would absolutely destroy law enforcement's ability to
effectively protect the people of California.

Please know that this measure goes far beyond the decriminalizing of
illicit drugs; it provides a defense for a wide range of acts of
criminality that may be committed by people voluntarily under the
influence of drugs. Essentially, under Proposition 5, a drug-impaired
assault suspect could assert that his violent conduct was not his
fault, but that the drugs made him do it; thus his consequences
through the criminal justice system would be nothing more than
minimal rehabilitation therapy for his addiction.

Proposition 5 represents the absolute worst threat to effective
public safety efforts in the history of the state. Proposition 5 is
largely funded by left-wing radicals such as George Soros in an
apparent effort to thwart public safety through law enforcement.
Proposition 5 is opposed by the California District Attorney's
Association, the California Police Chiefs Association, the Chief
Probation Officers of California, Crime Victims United and California
Peace Officers Association.

Conversely, a very positive measure will also be presented on
Tuesday, namely Proposition 6, known as the safe Neighborhoods Act.
Simply stated, Proposition 6 seeks to permanently end the recurring
battle over adequate funding for critical public safety efforts
through the legislature.

With the passage of Proposition 6, law enforcement will be spared the
unreasonable amount of time currently necessary to ensure adequate
funding of programs that have greatly assisted law enforcement
efforts to maintain public safety and quality of life throughout the state.

Proposition 6 represents the good work of Sen. George Runner and is
endorsed by the California State Sheriff's Association, the
California Police Chiefs Association, the Chief Probation Offices of
California, Crime Victims United and California Peace Officers Association.
