WHY IS IT FASHIONABLE TO BASH THE POLICE?
I've been reading a lot of the letters to the editor and articles in
the paper regarding the police in general but more importantly the
RCMP, and I am concerned as to when it became fashionable to bash them
in any form?
Why do we lament the actions of the criminal when the police choose to
use whatever force deemed necessary to subdue the criminal, whether it
be by issuing a traffic ticket to remind people that there are traffic
laws or by the use of Tasers, or better yet, their gun to subdue the
whacked-out crack addict who just doesn't want to co-operate because
he/she knows the inevitable outcome?
Do the criminals themselves when dealing with anyone follow ethics of
any kind to get what they want? Do criminals stop to choose what form
of force they should use, given the situation they are in? I think
not. They do whatever they can using the most aggressive force
possible to accomplish their goal.
I say leave the police alone to do their job. Let them treat criminals
the way only criminals understand, like the criminals they are.
If you choose a life of crime you accept the risk that the treatment
you get is the treatment you most likely deserve.
When one gang interrogates a member of a rival gang or attempts to
extract a payment owed, they do so in a kind and courteous manner?
When a robber is trying to get money from a store or gas station is
he/she saying please and thank you and showing concern for the victim?
Not bloody likely.
If you're not committing a crime of any kind you have nothing to worry
about do you?
You want them to start winning the war on drugs and crime, I say let
all police forces treat the criminals like the criminals treat their
victims.
Should some die along the way so be it. Less gets written and talked
about when a police officer dies in the line of duty then when a
criminal gets killed by police.
