KEEP OUT BONGS

Re: 224 bong store is not doing anything wrong, TIMES Mailbag, Sept. 23

Wow, I bet it took forever to look up all that information in the
criminal code.

However, since marijuana is not yet legal, and is not a "prescription
medication" in the regular sense, it just does not apply.

I know people use pot for medicinal purposes -- I have no problem with
them. What I as a resident of this town have a problem with is a
storefront blatantly selling drug paraphernalia.

I appreciate that you were looking forward to all that extra foot
traffic for your own store. I think part of the problem is that Mr.
Singh was not (correct) with the application for his business license.
I am pretty sure that hash pipes, bongs, crack pipes, etc. have not
yet been labelled as medical instruments.

I will stand behind any city council member that has the cajones to
stand up to people like Mr. Singh who, when he can't get his own way,
cries "racism."

(Someone commented in an article that) "Maple Ridge if full of
stoners." I take offense to such a broad statement. Yes, we have a
drug problem just like every other city, town, municipality, but why
add fuel to the fire?

We have hardworking city councillors and a police department who are
doing their best to rid Maple Ridge of drugs and illegal drug
activity. We have a drug and alcohol treatment centre 10 minutes walk
from this store's location. Does it really make sense to you to allow
this store to open?

And if you smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes, buy your rolling
papers where you buy your cigarettes.
