Re: Contradicting the code (Letters, Sept. 24).

If indeed the Hemporium was shut down wrongfully, like Rob Gagne
claims, then by all means, I suggest that the owners pursue legal
action to re-open.

Just keep in mind that some of the residents in Maple Ridge do not
want stores like that in their neighbourhood.

I applaud the fact that somebody stepped up and shut the Hemporium
down whether it contradicted the code or not. As a community, we
should make it hard for these types of businesses to operate.

I understand that some people have the legal right to use marijuana
for medical reasons, but let's be realistic, if this store was
specifically catering to those few people, it probably would not have
generated enough income to stay open anyway.

Everybody knows what the Hemporium was selling and what its devices
were being used for. I don't want my children growing up thinking it's
hip and cool to smoke pot because that certainly seems to be the image
these types of stores like to portray.
