PROPOSAL FOR DRUG TESTS ON TTC DRIVERS REJECTED
A controversial plan to submit drivers - as well as other TTC
employees in "safety sensitive" positions - to random drug and alcohol
tests was turned down yesterday.
The nine city councillors who oversee the TTC voted to quash the
notion of random tests, after hearing opposition from unions and the
Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
However, the TTC did approve a policy that would test employees
suspected of showing up impaired, along with future job applicants.
