FOIBLES AND FOLLIES

Voters familiar with Dana Larsen, former candidate of the New
Democratic Party, must have been wondering what all the fuss was
about when he resigned.

In appearances at all candidates meetings in Powell River as a
Marijuana Party candidate, Larsen was like a stand-up comedian,
turning his advocacy of legalizing marijuana possession into a series
of one-liners.

Larsen has said he resigned because he didn't want his past exploits,
captured on video and preserved forever on the Internet, to become a
distraction for the national campaign.

He was right, because while voters may have been charmed by him as a
candidate when he had little chance of becoming an elected official,
they have a different standard for the person who represents them in Ottawa.
