UP IN SMOKE
I was a little surprised to learn that one of the planks of the Green
Party of Canada was to legalize marijuana.
If Canada were an isolated country, then I think legalization would
be the right thing to do, since this would probably reduce gang activity.
(Personally I see no value in smoking pot; are the TV snippets of
drug-crazed adherents not enough to turn you against it?) But what
about the USA ? For sure the Americans are more conservative
regarding the cannabis question than we are here, with no
possibility of permissive legislation for a long time. Wouldn't this
create a huge industry for Canadians, as distributors of noxious
weed, with all the attendant troubles at the border ?
