DRUG POLICY WILL BE DISCUSSED AT BROWN

PROVIDENCE -- The founder and executive director of the Drug Policy
Alliance, a national organization with a mission of changing drug
laws, will discuss "the harms caused by current drug policies" in a
presentation tonight at Brown University.

Ethan Nadelmann will speak at 7:30 p.m. in MacMillan 117 in a program
sponsored by the local chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy.

The organizers said Nadelmann will discuss the Bush administration's
initiative on student drug testing, the impact of the prison
population on the state budget and a law that prohibits students with
drug convictions from receiving federal financial school aid.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy said that Nadelmann was invited "to
educate young people about how the war on drugs directly affects
them." The organization called him "one of the most prominent and
well informed leaders of the drug policy reform movement."
