TAXING CANNABIS

Re: "Drug court seeks new funding," Sept. 4.

Imagine if the city council had funding for a drug treatment court to
take addicts off the streets. A reasonable option is eliminating
criminal cures. A sustainable source of funding -- a $1 per gram
commercial tax -- adds up. Cannabis is a cash crop that should fund
community services and education. Would a cleaner, more sober
Vancouver be a better Olympic host site? Will tourist cannabis
purchases create more addicts living in Vancouver?
