GRANTS GIVEN FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS
Montana's U.S. senators announced a total of $1,551,374 for justice
and law enforcement programs in communities across Montana on Monday.
The 11 separate grants will fund anti-drug efforts, and police and
firefighting efforts.
"Grants like this go a long way to keeping Montana the last best
place," Sen. Max Baucus said. "From preventing drug use to keeping
our streets safe, these dollars will be used to keep Montana the best
place on earth to live, work and raise a family."
"All of these grants are smart investments for Montana," Sen. Jon
Tester said. "This is about making sure the folks from Sheridan
County to Ravalli County and everywhere in between have the resources
they need and deserve."
Four of the grants, totaling $486,802 were awarded through the Office
of National Drug Control Policy to drug use prevention coalitions
across Montana. These organizations mobilize and organize community
efforts to fight drug use among young people.
The other grants will help law enforcement and court officers
complete their jobs safely and effectively.
Justice and Law Enforcement grant recipients were the
following:
- - Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association-
$194,074
- - Montana Board of Crime Control Justice Assistance Grant Program-
$366,694
- - illings Justice Assistance Grant Program- $11,390
- - Great Falls Weed and Seed Community Intervention Program-
$150,000
- - Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department $34,614
- - Fort Belknap Office of Community Oriented Policing services-
$200,000
- - Blackfeet Tribal Courts Assistance Program- $107,800
Drug Free Coalition Recipients were the following:
- - Youth Connections Coalition Montana- $125,000
- - Sheridan County Youth Action Council- $120,101
- - Butte Cares, Inc. Butte-Silver Bow Drug-Free Coalition Montana- $125,000
- - Ravalli County Prevention Coalition Montana- $116,701
