The top US official in the war against drugs said it's
hypocritical to condemn Mexico for narcoticsrelated
corruption and crime when the US demand for drugs is
aggravating the problem. Barry McCaffrey, director of the Office of
National Drug Control Policy, said Mexican authorities are annually
"battered" by $ 6 billion flowing from US drug users.
