BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuter) A combined operation against drug tourism
by Belgian, French and Dutch police resulted in 123 arrests and the seizure
of quantities of narcotics, Belgian police said Saturday.

A total of 2,500 police from the three neigbouring nations were involved
in the overnight operation codenamed ``No Way Out.''

During checks of 22,000 people and 12,000 vehicles they seized nearly
nine pounds of cannabis, 11 ounces of heroin, more than 600 Ecstasy pills,
nearly an ounce of cocaine, nealy two ounces of amphetamines and five
firearms.

France, Belgium and the Netherlands have frequently argued over the
liberal Dutch policy on soft drugs, and there are frequent spot checks on the
highways across northern Belgium between the Netherlands and France.
