U.S.-STYLE WAR ON DRUGS
If Stephen Harper's "Conservatives" get a majority, I fear for the
life of my epileptic wife. She uses medical marijuana, for which she
has a licence from Health Canada. In the past six years, her health
has improved dramatically through the use of this herb, and her
seizures have plummeted in both number and ferocity. She cannot
tolerate other medications, so this is not choice, but necessity. The
Conservatives raged against this program when they sat in opposition
and cut medical marijuana research funding when they got into power.
They have reaffirmed their commitment to a U.S.-style war on drugs,
even though all evidence suggests this policy actually increases the
problems it purports to fight, while subsidizing gangsters at home and
terrorism abroad.

(It's ridiculous, but true.)
