CONFUSION CONFOUNDING
It's distressing to learn that San Bernardino law-enforcement
officials continue to find "confusion" where none exists ("Pot
dispute still unresolved," Aug. 27).
According to the Legislative Counsel of California, the state
Attorney General's Office, the Superior Court of California, and the
4th District Court of Appeals, local politicians and law enforcement
are obligated to uphold the provisions of California's medical marijuana laws.
The county Sheriff Department's objections possess as much merit as
claiming that the Earth is flat. The arrogant behavior of San
Bernardino's supervisors and police is an affront to those they were
hired to serve and is a gross waste of taxpayers' dollars.

Editor's note: Mr. Armentano is the deputy director of NORML, the
National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
