CONCERN OVER 'GANG' VIOLENCE

To the Editor:

When are the police and the town council going to do something about
the drug dealing and violence in the low-income houses behind the high school?

It has become as bad as a "Ghetto" in the city. It has gotten so bad
that you can't even go outside your home at night without being
afraid of getting shot or stabbed.

I am speaking about the shooting that happened around 3 a.m. on Aug.
28. I have family that lives up there and could have been shot if a
stray bullet had gone through the window of the living room. My
family was in the living room playing video games at the time. They
heard what sounded like at least a dozen shots being fired. I know
that there has been plenty of drugs being sold up there such as
cocaine, meth, and pot. But it's getting worse and worse and nothing
is being done about it.

There are gangs living in these houses. And there are innocent lives
in danger!! I am not just worried about my family but all of the
innocent children that live up there. What if one of those bullets
had gone through a window and killed a helpless child. I don't want
to think about that happening, but if something doesn't get done and
quickly then it probably will happen. And I don't want to go to a
funeral for one of my brothers because nothing is being done about
this problem!! And I don't think anyone else wants another senseless
murder to happen either!!

Cindy
