Improvements Reduce Methanol Engine
Pollutants

Comline Transportation Wire The Traffic
Safety and Nuisance Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport has
developed technology to reduce by 90 percent the nitrous oxide emitted
from methanol vehicles. That type of vehicle is already seen as an
environmentallyfriendly type of auto for the future. The technology
improves the performance of the engine which directly injects
fuel into the combustion chamber. It realizes thermal efficiency on a
par with a diesel auto through improved fuel usage in the engine. The
institute will present information on the technology to auto
manufacturers hoping they will further develop it for
actual use. The technology uses emitted gas recycling technology to
return part of the emissions to the engine entrance. It improves thermal
efficiency by encouraging the volatilization of the methanol and making
ignition easier.
