BUDAPEST, May 13 (Reuter) Hungarian police said on Tuesday said they would
destroy a record haul of two tonnes of marijuana worth two billion forints
($11 million) found in a truck at the weekend.

``We have taken samples and can confirm that the haul is entirely made up of
marijuana,'' a police spokesman told Reuters. ``It will be destroyed soon but
for security reasons we do not wish to say when.''

The spokesman added it was a record seizure for Hungary.

Police said they intercepted the lorry, which had originated in Greece and
was bound for the Slovak capital Bratislava, at the Gyula border crossing
with Romania on Saturday and arrested the 42yearold Macedonian driver.

They said the container had been loaded in Laos and shipped to the Greek port
of Piraeus for onward transport to Western
