A U.S. Border Patrol agent arrested for allegedly stashing 602 pounds of
marijuana in an agency van was ordered by a federal magistrate Tuesday to
be held without bail.
U.S. Magistrate Anthony Battaglia said agent Thomas Bair,27,posed a flight
risk and called his case"very troubling."
Bair pleaded not guilty to one count to possession of a controlled
substance with intent to distribute.If convicted,he faces a minimum
mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison.The maximum sentence could be 40
years in a federal penitentiary.
Bair was arrested Aug. 5.
