CRACK SELLER SENTENCED TO LIFE
COVINGTON CINCINNATI POST : Donald L.
Gill, 23, of Walters Street, Cincinnati, was sentenced to life in prison
Wednesday after being convicted last year of attempting to sell crack
cocaine. Gill received an automatic life sentence under a federal ''three
strikes and you're out'' law because of two prior felony drug
convictions.
He was convicted last year of selling 72 grams of crack cocaine to
undercover agents at a fastfood restaurant in Covington on Aug. 17,
1995. A codefendant, Everett Thompkins, 23, also of Cincinnati,
received a threeyear sentence in the same case. However, Thompkins
cooperated with authorities and didn't have a serious criminal
history. Both men were sentenced by U.S. District Judge William O.
Bertelsman.
