MISPLACED SYMPATHIES STAIN EAST VAN

To the editor:

Re: "Recovery house plan riles local residents," Nov. 21.

So a drug addict-rehab house is causing concern in East Vancouver.
What's the problem? Didn't they get the notice like everyone else?

Let me read from my copy: "East Van is to be the home of all
middle-class guilt and upper-class fear; it is to house every
hooker-sympathy initiative, every residential drug recovery house,
every mental health facility, every criminal rehab effort. You and
your children must live in the dumping ground for all those problems
the 'creme de la creme' don't want in their neighbourhoods." I guess
some folks in East Vancouver haven't learned they're supposed to shut
up and take it.
