A man will stand trial for manslaughter in the Campbelltown District Court
for supplying the syringe a heroin user used to inject a fatal overdose.
The defendant's solicitor argued that this could mean that this decision
had the potential to place every chemist and needle exchange service
"before the courts". However, the magistrate was satisfied that a jury
could find the defendant responsible for the users death. The DPP
prosecutor told the court that the case against the defendant was that he
had assisted the deceased in performing "a dangerous and unlawful act".
