OFFICER CHARGED WITH SEX CRIME

Milwaukee Police Detective Accused of Enticing, Having Sex With High
School Boy

A detective has been charged with child enticement, accused of having
sex with a boy several times, the most recent Milwaukee Police
Department member charged with a crime.

Ahmad W. Majeed, 47, was charged Saturday with child
enticement-exposing a sex organ, according to a criminal complaint. If
convicted of the felony, Majeed would face up to 30 years in prison
and a $10,000 fine.

Majeed was arrested by a Milwaukee internal affairs police detective
on Friday. He was suspended the same day, said Anne E. Schwartz,
department spokeswoman. Majeed continues to be paid per state law.

Majeed was released on a $5,000 signature bond.

Since February, at least eight members of the department have been
charged with crimes, half of them felonies. The unrelated crimes
include drug trafficking, battery, sexual assault, taking bribes and
shooting a gun outside a bar.

The complaint says Majeed met the boy when the youth was a sophomore
in high school. The complaint does not describe how the two met.

Majeed initiated sexual contact with the boy in a bathroom, it says.
Following that, there were "numerous" sexual encounters, the complaint
says. The sex did not appear to be forced, according to the complaint,
but because of the youth's age, he could not consent to have sex.

The last sexual encounter occurred between October 2000 and April
2001, it says. The alleged victim is now an adult.

Michael Hart, the lawyer representing Majeed, said he was concerned
about the length of time between the alleged acts and the charges
being filed.

"It appears to be allegations that are five to six years old," he
said. "It's always an issue when you have that kind of gap."

Hart said his client will plead not guilty. His next court date is
July 11.
