The government brought together more than 500 drug experts from around the
country Monday to discuss the scope of the nation's herion problem and how
to deal with it.

The twoday conference,involving medical researchers and specialists in law
enforcement,public policy,and drug treatment and prevention,follows months
in which Clinton administration officials have been expressing dismay about
rising herion use,particularly among teenagers and young adults.
