FUTILE DRUG WAR
Oak Lawn The Tribune reported the arrest of a dozen gang members on drug
charges (MetroSouthwest, Oct. 1) and the announcement made by Will County
State's Atty. James Glasgow, "We cut the head off the (Gangster Disciple)
beast for a while."
How many heads has this beast? Does it regenerate heads like Minnesota
frogs grow too many legs? What is the source of this contamination? Former
U.S. Atty. Jim Burns made a similar pronouncement with the arrest of
several dozen Gangster Disciples about two years ago, although Burns said,
"We have cut the head off the snake."
Snake or monster, drug prohibition is the contaminant. Cut its head off.
Dance on its grave. An end to the drug war is the guillotine that will
snuff out all nine lives of the Gangster Disciples and chop off all nine of
its heads, permanently.
