High and drive

Sir: Jackie Flaherty (letter, 13 October) asks whether cannabis impairs the
ability to drive. Reports from the USA and the Netherlands suggest there is
little to worry about. A report by the Washington Department of Motor
Vehicles has stated: "Simulated driving scores for subjects experiencing a
normal social 'high' and the same subjects under control conditions are not
significantly different. However, there are significantly more errors for
alcoholintoxicated than for control subjects."
