Australia random breath tests
All patrol units in Victoria have been supplied with breathtesting
equipment so that every motorist pulled over by police will now be
breathtested regardless of why they are stopped. Assistant Commissioner
George Davis said the new policy would be rigorously applied in the leadup
to the Christmas holidays. Every police car is now a booze bus. The chief
executive officer of the Transport Accident Commission, John Lees, said a
quarter of those killed on Victorian roads this year had a bloodalcohol
level over .05 and "These are people (who) simply should not have been
driving automobiles in the first place".
