PI article raises falsehoods about I685

Your Oct. 7 article about I685 raises some falshoods about the initiative
and paints George Soros in a negative light for supporting it.

Washington needs I685. It does not legalize, decriminalize or allow the
prescription or distribution of any drug. It permits doctors, with
concurring opinion of a second physician, to recommend drugs, including
marijuana, that have a demonstrated medical benifits to seriously ill
patients. California and Arizona passed similar measures last year and
things there are far better, not worse.

I685 does not require release of anyone from prison. It gives judges the
discretion, on a case by case basis, to release nonviolent offenders for
courtsupervised drug treatment. That will free our prison space for
violent criminals.

It's time to start giving George Soros the credit he deserves for helping
bring about positive change rather than painting him as a monster.
