Once again I must commend Peter Freyne for at least bringing up
issues that are so important to many citizens. All Americans
should be outraged that Steven Libbey's job is being threatened
for things he may have done many years earlier. He has committed
no crime today, nor is he legally liable for things done before
the period of time determined by the statute of limitations.
From what I have heard, Steve is an exemplary member of his
community. Its not that "Life ain't Fair" but rather that the
self-righteous hypocrites in the Justice Department are not fair.
What was left out of Peter's article was that Steve, like other
prosecution witnesses, was threatened with prosecution by the
DRUG GESTAPO if he did not testify against Billy Greer.
Why is it that the former pot smokers, (criminals?), are now
prosecutors, judges, governors, congressmen, senators, vice
president and president while Steve Libbey's job is threatened.
Knowing Billy Greer for the wonderful parent and friend that he
is, I would be surprised if Steven Libbey, like other threatened
prosecution witnesses, did not apologize to Billy as he left the
stand. For reasons beyond my understanding the DRUG GESTAPO
feels that the drug war is more important than the US
Constitution, I don't, and what I do or do not do in the privacy
of my home is none of their business. I am proad that UVM
measures its employees by the job the do rather than the content
of their urine. Perhaps if those in Washington spent less time
examining the waste products of others they could find better
solutions to social problems. As it is, the Drug War policy has
led to an ever increasing use of drugs by children. Parents and
family values cannot be replaced by laws.Decision making skills
are taught not forced.
Our country was founded by people with strong moral convictions
who choose to break existing laws for a higher cause, Freedom. I
find todays drug warriors to be ignorant of the facts and afraid
to objectively examine the scientific literature regarding the
issues for which the ruin peoples lives and cause medically needy
people harm. They are cowards who would rather hide behind
ignorance than face the moral consequences of the harm they do to
others. A Justice Department that would attempt to put Billy
Greer in jail for life without parole makes a mockery of the word
justice. VOTE GRASSROOTS!
