Freebies from drug bust
KINGSVILLE It's a cucumber sandwich lover's dream.
Outside the local Walmart, Kleberg County officials were giving away
50,000 pounds of cucumbers Thursday to anyone who wanted them.
The cukes were in a truck police had confiscated during a drug bust early
Wednesday in the town of Alice. Officers reported finding 1,392 pounds of
marijuana in boxes under loads of cucumbers from the Rio Grande Valley.
"People can have cucumber sandwiches, cucumber soup, whatever they want,"
said Chief Deputy Marcos Perez.
Two men were jailed on suspicion of possession of marijuana and
transporting marijuana.
