CHILD ABUSE

Legalizing Drugs Would Hurt Kids

The Nov. 2 article "Drugs heighten risk of child abuse" explained that
there is a high incidence of child abuse by drug-using parents. We should
remember the children when those who want to legalize drugs seek our
attention.

National proponents of legalizing drugs admit the obvious, that drug use
will increase if drugs are legalized. In spite of this, University of
Hawaii Professor Donald Topping, Hawaii's principal proponent of legalizing
drugs, is promoting drug legalization from his faculty office at U.H. No
doubt this is in the name of free speech. If it's free, than why do the
taxpayers of Hawaii have to pay for it twice, both by paying his faculty
salary and then by the harm drugs do to Hawaii's children?
