ASKING THE WRONG QUESTION
RE: "LEGALIZED marijuana a potty idea," (Linda Slobodian, Nov. 26).
Slobodian is asking the wrong question. The war on (some) drugs which the
police have been so zealously waging (and losing) for the last 20odd years
has made commerce in marijuana a boom industry. I suggest the question we
should ask is: What would be the result of we allowed doctors to prescribe
marijuana for patients? Who is better qualified to make a judgment
regarding the therapeutic qualities of a particular drug, the patient's
doctor, or some bureaucrat in a government office?
