By TERESA ROBINSON By Foster's Daily Democrat Staff Writer
Rochester Undercover police arrested two teenagers on drug charges on
Monday morning after finding the students with marijuana outside Spaulding
High School.
William Lane, 18, of 15 King St. and a 16yearold male whose name cannot
be released because he is a juvenile, were taken into custody by the
undercover police officer at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Monday.
The two were charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug, a Class A
misdemeanor.
Lane was released on a summons and will be arraigned in Rochester District
Court of Jan. 30. The 16yearold was later released to the custody of his
parents.
The arrests were made on Wakefield Street in front of the high school,
according to police. A small amount of marijuana was seized, Lt. Mike Allen
said.
Allen said the arrests are a result of an undercover investigation.
Although Allen said he could not discuss the details of the investigation,
he said police had received information about drug activity and started the
investigation.
According to the school's discipline code, possession of a controlled drug
is considered grounds for a longterm suspension and may lead to expulsion.
Prior to a longterm suspension, a formal hearing will be conducted by the
School Board or a designated committee or the superintendent. A longterm
suspension can last from 10 days to 20 days.
