LEGAL DRUGS:
Congratulations to Ellison for sense on drugs at last. He is right that
decriminalisation is not enough and that drugs should be legalised and
manufactured by chemical companies. Crime is drug-related only because
drugs are illegal and thus expensive. No one wins but the drug barons.
Eventually surely it will be realised that the drugs war cannot be won.
Tragic though the loss of one person from one ecstasy tablet is, one must
bear in mind the 120,000 who die annually as a result of the legal drugs in
cigarettes. I think we have got our priorities wrong.
Incidentally, Rajeev Syal said Ellison's report had enraged doctors. Well,
not all of them.
