'DUPED' DRUGS BRIT CAGED
A BRITISH backpacker who claims she was tricked into smuggling
cannabis out of India has been jailed for ten years in a hell-hole
prison.
Daisy Angus, 26, protested her innocence and sobbed in the dock as she
was sentenced.
An Israeli man she claimed conned her into carrying a suitcase full of
cannabis through Mumbai airport was freed due to lack of evidence.
Trainee fitness instructor Daisy has already spent four years in
prison in Mumbai while her slow-moving trial proceeded through the
Indian legal system.
Her father John, 54, of Bournemouth, Dorset, died from leukaemia while
she has been in jail.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said there was a chance Daisy could be
moved to a UK jail. She added: "We have a prisoner transfer agreement
in India. It is up to Daisy to apply."
