COLOMBIA SAYS ITS NABBED BOSS OF CALI COCAINE CARTEL
Colombian police Thursday captured a man believed to be the new head of the
Cali cocaine cartel, calling it a devastating blow to a drug ring already
weakened by previous crackdowns.
Jose Nelson Urrego, 43, who built up a fortune that includes hotels,
ranches and other real estate, was arrested during a raid on a country home
outside Medellin.
"He was practically the highest-ranking person left in the cartel," said
Gen. Rosso Jose Serrano, the national police chief.
