In an item earlier today we posted an incorrect source and contact, as
follows:

Subj: US OR: Wire: Attorney For Shooting Suspect Not Satisfied With
Investigation

URL: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v98.n153.a06.html

Source: Examiner, The (Ireland) <-- Should have been Associated Press
Author: Richard Green
Contact: exam_letters@examiner.ie <-- Wire: stories do not have a contact
Pubdate: Tue, 3 Mar 1998

Sorry about the error. With one of our team out of the country on vacation,
we are sometimes hard pressed to get all the news out, so mistakes will be
made. You can help, newshawks, by being sure to set up the articles as
well as possible. Please start your articles with the appropriate lead
lines as follows:

defaults to your email address)
Source: The name of the source like Associated Press
Contact: email, fax or mail address for the source - not used for wire
service items
Pubdate: date of publication

If the leads are not provided, our roboeditor software at editor@mapinc.org
searches the article for a matching source, and provides whatever it thinks
is right, producing incorrect results which, in the above case, we did not
catch.

The second most significant problem we experience is with items that do not
have a double space between paragraphs. Roboeditor does its best to format
articles before they reach the editing team, but without the double spaces
between paragraphs, we end up trying to paragraph a completely
unparagraphed item by hand, probably making it look not quite like it was
in print.

Please add the double space between paragraphs before you send items to
editor@mapinc.org

Finally, we are asked why we, your team at editor@ did not cover a story
from time to time. Folks, we seldom have time to newshawk stories
ourselves. We wish we did.

Our volunteer newshawks, folks like you, who take the time to send us items
make this service happen. They are the real heros of this effort, in my
opinion. We can not thank them all enough!

Please, if you feel we are missing items, or not covering your area
newspapers, help us. Become a newshawk. It is not all that hard. Drop me a
note if you need help.
