CITY MAN, ARIZONA TRIO INDICTED IN DRUG SCHEME
BOSTON -- A 30-year-old New Bedford man has been indicted by a federal
grand jury on charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 100
kilograms of marijuana in the New Bedford area.
According to the indictment returned yesterday in U.S. District Court,
Gregory Gonsalves of 355 Nash Road joined three other men from Arizona in a
scheme to distribute the drug in New Bedford and other parts of
Massachusetts.
The conspiracy, which, according to the indictment, continued until Jan.
28, involved the transfer of substantial amounts of marijuana from Arizona
to Massachusetts for distribution and sale.
Indicted along with Mr. Gonsalves are: Kenneth Demoranville, 31, Raymundo
Barron, 21, and Ricardo Barron, 30, all of Tucson, Ariz.
The four are expected to make initial appearances later this month at
federal court. Their case has been assigned to U.S. District Court judge
Patti Saris.
