TODDLER IN HOSPITAL AFTER EATING DRUGS

A woman was in jail and her 2-year-old son in the hospital Monday after he
ate methamphetamine he found in a baby food jar, San Bernardino County
authorities said.

The boy was at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where his condition
was improving, sheriff's spokesman Chip Patterson said.

Jean Barragan, 30 of Twentynine Palms, was held on $51,350 bail for
investigation of felony child abuse and endangerment, possession of
methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, sheriff's spokeswoman
Linda Whittaker said.
