GARDAI SEIZE DRUGS

CANNABIS worth #2 million was seized during a dramatic early morning raid
by gardai yesterday.

A large quantity of the drug was recovered in an operation by members of
the National Drugs Unit (NDU) in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Three men were arrested when officers from the NDU seized over 200 kilos of
cannabis with an estimated street value of #2 million.

Armed detectives pounced on the men as they were transferring the drug from
a truck to another vehicle a short distance outside the town.

The incident took place at Coolfone near Ashbourne shortly after 7.45 am.
Arresting officers described the find as "very substantial."

The men - two from Dublin and the other from Kildare - were brought
immediately to the local garda station for questioning.

All three are in their late 20s and early 30s.

The latest find and arrests were the result of a detailed surveillance
operation.

Last night the three were being questioned at Ashbourne garda station.
